How To Photograph Your Dog In 17 Steps


  1. Remove film from box and load in camera (I know, no one uses film any more)
  2. Remove film box from dogs mouth and throw in the trash
  3. Remove dog from trash and brush coffee grounds from muzzle
  4. Choose a suitable background for photo
  5. Mount Camera on tripod and focus
  6. Find dog and take dirty sock away
  7. Place dog in pre-focused spot and return to camera
  8. Forget about spot and crawl around on your knees after the dog
  9. Focus camera with one hand and fend off dog with other hand
  10. Get tissue and clean nose prints from lens
  11. Put cat outside and dab dogs nose with peroxide
  12. Put magazines back on coffee table
  13. Try getting dogs attention by squeaking toy over your head
  14. Replace your glasses and check camera for damage
  15. Jump up in time to catch dog in squat position and shoo them out the door
  16. Clean up mess
  17. Sit down in chair and resolve to teach dog sit and stay first thing in the morning

  1. I stumbled across this when I was looking for an article on dog photography for a planned post for my new blog. I ended up getting a good laugh out of this during work–the photos accompanying it were fantastic.
